Ashmont Hill
Axiom Records
Grade – B

The moniker, Ashmont Hill, is taken from a community setting with the same name near Boston, MA. The group, Ashmont Hill, is comprised of four relatives – either by blood or marriage. Their goal as a musical ministry,is to answer a call from the Lord to take their music to another level and to a larger community. While the majority of the self-titled CD was written by member Phil Thompson, there are two Matt Redmond songs on the CD as well – “Gifted Response,” and “Blessed Be Your Name.”

The cd is worship orientated with upbeat moments of pop. The most notable aspect of the band is the vocals of sisters April and Deborah. Their harmonies and leads are truly amazing. The overall feel is very inspirational and I found that the production was well done. For the genre of worship/pop,the group is a perfect fit. Their self-titled debut is very original and even their remakes have a twist of their own style.

The group is currently on tour with Natalie Grant and you can find tour dates as well as song samples on their MySpace page.
