This is a solid live recording of many original numbers. Most of the tracks feature a lead singer with the occasional backing of The Calvary Temple Praise Choir of Indianapolis, IN.
The songs take an R&B and Southern Gospel approach. However, there is enough variety in the sound-Shaft-like guitar, Hammond organ—that the discriminating listen will stay tuned-in.
It was a pleasure to hear Rachael Lampa sing lead on one of the songs. We haven’t heard much from her recently, other than comments about some photos on her MySpace. Darwin Hobbs is another guest vocalist.
“Mighty God” is one of the standout up-tempo tracks and is also the current radio single. I also enjoyed the harmonies on “Lord You Reign,” which builds t a nice crescendo. Occasionally the songs get a little monotonous, which is fine at a live show and but necessarily in a casual listening setting.
This enhanced CD has lyrics, web links and some pixilated QuickTime video, not a bad deal.
