Eowyn
Silent Screams
Independent
Grade – B+

Eowyn is an independent artist in the Christian Industrial/Hard Rock genre. Her edgy Gospel flavored rock could be described as a blend of Skillet fronted by a female lead vox. She’s high-energy and explosive, and Silent Screams is a commanding album. It is notable to point out that Eowyn has also been compared vocally to Evanescence.

Don’t be thrown off by the half-goth look and the industrial rock. Eowyn is all about the Gospel and her music is just a different outlet for spreading the word. It’s no surprise that she would pick such an in-your-face style of music. If you read about her childhood you will find that she came to know Christ at an early age and she vehemently shared the gospel at a young age. Her music is no different. The main focus is Christ-centered and hopeful.

Eowyn has worked on a few other projects previous to Silent Screams, however, none can really compared to how well this project has turned out. With Silent Screams, Eowyn benefited from the assistance of Pillar front man Rob Beckley who appears on the title track. Other members of Pillar show up in the credits, both as a supporting band and contributors to the writing process.

The sound/style of the CD is what stands out the most for me, but at the same time I realize that it also limits her audience. It’s not everyone who likes to rock out like this. Eowyn has also been criticized for her vocals. However, I say that anyone who can sing a song called “Significant,” and hit the notes she does, is well beyond juvenile. Refinement is always important, but I think she’s found a niche and I am pumped about this project.

I love this CD. This is the kind of CD that I could just keep in the car all the time. I never tire of hearing it – and hearing it loud!
