Janet Planet Janet Planet always gave my late father credit for inspiring her to become a jazz singer. She’s had recording and performing success and is very popular in our area. While I’m not much of a listener of mainstream jazz, I do recommend Janet’s CD of Christian music, which takes a smooth jazz approach to the songs. The instrumentation is generally understated, with perhaps a piano and bass or a couple of trumpets. There are several original songs; “Amor Es (Love Is)” is quite lively. “Lift Me Up” is another good track. I love Janet’s interpretation of “Children Go Where I Send There” but purists may not like “How Great Thou Art.” The production mixes are excellent. - Rob S. |
