Jars of Clay have departed from Essential records and have chosen to take the path of the independent. However, that has never stopped a record company from cashing in on the bands success with a greatest hits collection. The current hits compilation from Jars of Clay is 14 tracks long, starting with the all time favorite “Flood” and ending with a new track, “Love Is the Protest.”

The new track, “Love Is the Protest” is far from the acoustic college rock of the days of “Flood.” However, it is more in line with where the band is at personally. After a successful career as a band, the members have started to shift their focus on missions work raising money and awareness of worldly needs, for example, their work with the Blood Water Mission.

What ever the motivation or plan of the release from Essential,it goes without saying that any Jars of Clay fan would want to have such a collection. The entire album can be purchased through iTunes for less than $10. However, if you have a decent collection already you can purchase the new track on iTunes as well.
