Hope and Decay is the sophomore release from the Shelly Moore Band. Commanded by Shelly’s amazingly emotive vocals, Hope and Decay is a powerful album. The acoustic nature of the album also enhances the experience greatly. The soundtrack is subtle yet very creative. The message is straightforward and is as equally powerful as the vocals. I’m amazed at how easily I can be engrossed into the songs.

A few of the tracks that stood out for me were “Grafted,” the quiet “Solid Ground,” and the vertical worship tune “Be Exalted.” Overall the beauty of the project is both the poignant message and the moving and meaningful sonic delivery. It’s a different style of worship that is not overdone or a too similar to the rest of the genre.
