Since October is a newly signed band to the Tooth & Nail label. Their debut, This is My Heart, is a mix of atmospheric-scremo-alt-rock, but for the most part it is just hard rock – my favorite. The album diversity is clearly heard between the lead track, “My Heart,” which incorporates the hard rock/screamo, and then “Beautiful” which is more melodic, yet it still rocks. Lastly, “In This Moment” is more toned down and ballad like. Although the styles are significantly different, the songs blend well together and I found the album overall was smokin’.
Although the band is new to Tooth & Nail, they have had a successful build-up on the Indie scene. Their first independent release sold fairly well and they appear to be a touring band, which is important now days with limited radio rotations. On a side note, I read a few reviews on iTunes that indicate much of this album is the same as their independent debut. That’s not uncommon at all and I have seen it before with other labels. Although the band had done well independently, not everyone has had the opportunity to hear the bands prior release and the label helps give the band greater distribution and attention.
