Big Daddy Weave
What Life Would Be Like
Fervent Records
Grade – B

I have to admit I was not thinking that I would be overly impressed with this album. You see,I have a bias against anything that does well on the radio. Many times it is because you end up hearing the same thing over and over again. Even when it is a different band, the music tends to be the same on the airwaves. At least that’s my impression of what I would consider Top 40 Christian mainstream radio.

Fortunately for me I was encouraged by an email to listen to this project. What I discovered was an album full of great songs. For starters, the title track is an upbeat story about personal thoughts or expectations of holiness and grace. Another favorite is “Right With You,” because it deals with marital subjects that I can relate with. The song also has a light airy feeling with a subtle piano track in the background and a mostly acoustic lead track.

What Life Would Be Like is the fifth studio album for Big Daddy Weave, who has been together for their first decade as a band. According to the media materials, the band members have a renewed zeal for their music ministry following a recent trip with World Vision. I believe that the album does convey that well and I would expect that it will last longer than one single album.
