Capital Lights is a new pop-punk band on Tooth & Nail records. Their debut, This Is an Outrage!,has proven to be quite enjoyable. Although I am not usually into the pop-punk genre, I got along with this CD because it seemed to be more guitar driven and it was overall,rather lively. There were a few times where I thought I heard other influences (possibly unintentional) like Brave Saint Saturn and Joy Electric. Just minutely, but it was something I noticed.
The best sounding song in my opinion was “Mile Away,” which consequently is less pop punk than most of the rest of the album. I also like “Return,” which is based on the book of Revelations.
The band of course has a MySpace page where you can listen to samples and read more about them. It’s worth a look if you’re into pop punk or if you’re just on the fence about pop punk.
