Cindy Morgan is a highly acclaimed singer/songwriter with a laundry list of awards and accolades. Aside from writing and recording her own CD’s, she has been busy writing songs for other artist as well. The time between her releases seems to stretch beyond eternity. However, each release is greeted with much anticipation and Beautiful Bird exceeds expectations.
The markings of a superior singer/songwriter include telling a story well and that is a key element of Morgan’s latest release. I immediately attached to the song “As a Child,” as Morgan weaved a story about how her father had influenced her life. I can look to a song like this for inspiration as I am going through life with three young ladies to care for in my own house. The title track gives me goose bumps as Morgan breezes through the chorus.
The style of music is primarily pop, but Morgan dabbles in Appalachia, Country, and Symphonic. One of my favorite tracks is the spiritual “Lay Me Down.” Morgan stated that this song was influenced by the soundtrack of the movie ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’ and the lyrics were inspired by the Psalms.
Beautiful Bird was self-produced by Morgan and it is presently only available in a digital format. You can purchase and download the CD from Morgan’s personal web site or from iTunes. On the official web site you will also find videos from the CD and some personal messages from Morgan herself.
