I have been waffling on how I feel about this CD. Francesca is a new artist and her voice immediately sets her apart. She’s perfectly designed for radio and in some ways that is also a negative. I really felt like there were moments on this CD that could have been produced better. The talent is there, but it did not seem to be applied evenly throughout the CD.
In the plus column, Francesca is not just a vocalist. She is also the primary songwriter for My Paper Heart. The majority of the tracks show signs of a bright personality full of joy. The spirited title track is a prime example. Described as a “funk-laden” anthem, it is a prime example of how the music can pick you up.
I think the only hang up I have is that at times it seems that the production tries to hard to be commercial. For a debut it shows a lot of potential and I am excited for what is to come from Francesca. In the meantime,I will take what I have and over time I’m sure it will grow more comfortable in the CD player.
