Rendezvous Rendezvous is a self-titled debut project from a new label called Consuming Worship. The project is in part inspired by a small group study based on Frank Moore’s, Rendezvous: A Sacred Encounter with God. The album has ten new worship songs written by various authors and sung by a few different leads. The overall feel of the soundtrack is relaxed and reflective. I found that enjoying this CD depended upon my location and state of mind. To its benefit, the CD is not flashy and overly produced, but on the flip side that means listening in the car or while I am busy with something that requires more of my attention, is not a good fit. However, as I write this on Sunday morning, sitting in a quiet dinning room with just the music, I find that the music to be quite fitting. As with any project,I have my favorites, starting with the opening track, “Oxygen,” which has an airy-pop tone and a melodious voice. Secondly, I like the peaceful “I Thank The Lord For You.” This song is prayer of thankfulness that is expressed tenderly with just the piano and the vocals. Lastly, this song almost seems out of place at first, but I like “Blessed Be.” It has this retro dance club soundtrack that is kind of jazzy with synth and real instruments – sounds like a little jazz flute. The CD is just one of many resources you can find on the Consuming Worship web site. I would recommend the CD and the site for those looking for new music to accompany their worship or devotional times. - Ken W. |
