“Aware” is Salvador’s sixth studio release. One of the best Lifest concerts that I’ve ever seen was their performance from a few years ago.

Lead singer/songwriter Nic Gonzales has relocated from Texas to Nashville and married Jaci Velasquez. That’s a lot of change. He had to take a new approach to this record.

“I leaned so much more on Christ,” Gonzales says. “I had a new wife and we were getting ready to have a baby. I didn’t have 20 hours a day to just be alone and write.”

“Our heart’s cry is that we would be aware of what is going on around us, that God would create a fundamental change in me so that I would realize that everything that I am is not just about me.”

A couple of the tracks here are typical adult contemporary, including “Here I Am” and the title song.

“Undeniable,” “Fly Again,” and “Brand New Love” feature the unique Tex-Mex sound that I love. The lyrics leave no doubt were the band is coming from. “Everybody Needs You” includes a guest turn on vocals from Velasquez.

Gonzales says, “This is what I have to offer. It is the accumulation of the best that I am right now.”
