Curt Collins I like the diversity of Collins’ latest release. The tracks go from gutsy blues to adult contemporary rock and worship. “Never Givin’ Up On Me” is a perfect example of how well Collins mixes peppy-rock with a worship/inspirational sound. The blues style is present in “God of Second Chances,” and several of the other tracks key on the contemporary pop/rock sound. One of the coolest melodies would be “Time,” and the importance of the message is not lost either – it takes time to make real change and transformation to the heart. I like the funky “Higher Ground” as well for many of the same reasons. It’s a cool rock track with a funky guitar track and horns. To add to this all, Collins plays some traditional hymns with an updated soundtrack – “Blessed Assurance,” and “Jesus Paid It All.” Granted, the overall feel of Another Day is more adult contemporary, but I really appreciate the quality of the soundtrack and I think that as a vocalist, Collins did an excellent job of creating a well-rounded recording. It has a real positive feel that I found to be totally uplifting. - Ken W. |
