I find that I have tried to base the value of Nicole C. Mullen’s latest release, A Dream to Believe In, Vol. 2, based on the more commercial successes of her previous releases, but with “Vol. 2” of Mullen’s most personal work, it really goes beyond a catchy melody and a good radio song. The album personifies Mullen’s general disposition and state of heart. It’s fun, “Work With Me,” and to the point, “Treat Her Like A Lady.”

After breaking the bondage of this mind-trap I had confined the album into,I found that it was a formidable release. I like the Santana-like soundtrack (“Treat Her Like a Lady”) and the ever-impressive vocal virtuosity of Nicole C. Mullen evident on “Look Like Me.” This particular tune has a real rousingly funky feeling. “Feel Like I’m In Love” is quite similar and overall the entire CD bears Nicole C. Mullen’s soulful style of music.
