Brandon Heath scored the Dove for “New Artist of the Year.”  I didn’t think his debut was all that great beyond the Dove-nominated “I’m Not Who I Was.”  His new record has several good songs but it won’t go into my regular rotation.

The monster-single “Give Me Your Eyes” is an excellent song about seeing beyond self. As I write this, it’s been number one on one of the Radio and Records’ charts. I also liked the work-in-progress theme in “Wait and See” while “Trust You” focuses on surrender.

“Sore Eyes” features Jars of Clay.

I’m sorry but I didn’t get “London.”  There’s also a lot of mellow stuff here and “Fight Another Day” lifts the drums from “Give Me Your Eyes.”

Heath is involved with the human rights organizations Restore International and Blood:  Water Mission.
