Penny’s Gang Records
The Miracle Christmas Night is a compilation of artist singing of the Love of God, an expression of the miracle of the birth of Christ. The label, Penny’s Gang Records,was recently formed by industry veteran, Chris Bolden, and Penny McCoy a former World Ski Champion. The album features R&B and soul and some instrumental tracks focusing on the miracle of Christmas.
The coolest track is the instrumental “What Child Is This,” performed by guitarist Les Law and violinist Karen Briggs. The CD also features Wanda Vaughn of the Emotions,and an introduction read by Stevie Wonder. A couple of other favorites include “The Great I Am” featuring Patrick Paegel and the airy, “I Am Baby Jesus,” featuring Shelly James. While the majority of the CD is R&B flavored, there is hint of reggae on “I Am A Little Package.” “I Am A Little Package” also includes a chorus piece by the Roma Carriere Childrens Choir.
The promotional materials assert that Miracle Christmas Nightis Christmas music for a new generation. I think the themes and the artistry of the delivery make it a universal CD that is both enjoyable and encouraging.
