Point of Grace The vocal group Point of Grace is releasing a new Christmas CD with a fresh recording of “Tennessee Christmas.” Although it is the lead track, “Tennessee Christmas” was not a favorite of mine. Not when you have a rousing 40’s swing “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Jingle Bells.” The musical styles are all over the place, but these are a few songs that stand out. Another highlight is their version of “Breath of Heaven (Mary’s Song).” It has a beautiful arrangement of strings that paint a dreamy backdrop for their harmonies. It’s a moving song and they have done it well. The more vocal tracks are okay, but not as exciting as the swing type songs. Those who like the usual harmonies of a vocal group like Point of Grace will like the project all together, but for others not as tuned to the vocal groups, the jazzy big-band songs are the most fun. - Ken W.
