God Made You Special

Big Idea

The newest release from Big Idea is a combination of old and new installments combined to tell one story.  The theme is as titled, “God Made You Special.”  The Veggie-Duo Larry and Bob walk us through this topic with a narrative that ties the episodes together.  Lastly, previous to this release, Big Idea set out to collect narratives from young children that were used in the video as well.  This gave the video a very personal feel that I thought was real creative.

Considering that most of our Veggie collection is on VHS, I was extremely excited to find the classics would be revamped and now available on DVD.  The price range of the “God Made You Special” DVD is typical considering the market and well worth the four episodes and numerous extras.  The only reservation I would have is that by using old stories, the writers only have to come up with one new episode each release.  That could slow down the release of newer stories.  However, it may be that their resources are being poured into the next Veggie movie “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything.”  So I do not think there is a real concern that the creative juices will stop flowing anytime soon with this series.

God Made You Special Synopsis:

In this landmark collection of stories, Bob, Larry and all of their VeggieTales friends help kids to understand that they are special just the way God made them!

? “Bob’s Vacation” begins with a misunderstanding with Larry the Cucumber that brings Bob down and threatens to ruin his vacation – and perhaps even their friendship.  Watch how Bob discovers that he was created with unique qualities from God that make him special in this brand new adventure based on Psalm 139:13.

? “Dave and the Giant Pickle,” is the heroic story of David & Goliath with a Veggie-twist in which a shepherd boy realizes that “little guys can do big things, too.”

? “The Gourds Must Be Crazy,” is a hilarious outer-space adventure that helps the Veggies learn to appreciate the differences in others.

? “A Snoodle’s Tale” is a heart-warming story about a self-conscious Snoodle who lets the opinions of others bring him down until he that realizes that the way God sees him is the only thing that really matters.
